DIEVOLE WINES from Sicily and Tuscany

James Galtieri (CEO of Pasternak Wines) and his partner, Domaine Barons de Rothchild (Lafite) have teamed up to import and distribute a special selection of six wines from southwest Sicily and Tuscany, near Sienna.
On the retail shelf it will be under the DIEVOLE label, imported by Pasternak Wines www.pasternakwine.com .
I feel fortunate to have had a chance to taste all of the wines and encourage you to try them. Ask your wine retailer for them, if you can't find them on the shelf.
All of which were incredible considering their price and quality, which are the key factors in determing whether to purchase a wine or not.
DIEVOLE should be a name to remember...
I started my journey with the 2008 FOURPLAY, a unique blend of four grapes from southwest Sicily. The wine was made-up of 25% each of Nerello Mascalese (Sicilian Pinot Noir); Nero d' Avola; Frappato Nero and Cappuccio grapes. The wine is stored in stainless tanks for six months , then in the bottle for three months. FOURPLAY is 13% alcohol, full-bodied, smooth and dark ruby in color. The flavors were very interesting, a true combination of wild berries, liqorice, pepper and cinnamon.

Another Sicilian wine, from the southwest is the 2007 PINOCCHIO. A red wine with that name better be good and this PINNOCHIO is fantastic. Perched 15oo feet above sea level, with seven year old vines, this 100% Nero d' Avalo is hand harvested prior to full maturty to retain it's acidic qualities. It is stored in stainless tanks for five months, then is bootled and aged for an additional six months. Only 20,000 cases of this 13% wine is produced. This fresh, young fruity wine is a pleasure to drink. It is soft, yet, full of tannins with an herbal, mineral nose.

2008 DIEVOLINO IGT is from an area near Sienna (Tuscany). At 2000 feet, harvested by hand and at a location where wines have been produced since 1090, DIEVOLINO IGT is a truly a special wine. It is produced with traditional rules combined with new world technology. Fermentation takes place in stainless tanks and then is moved to wooden barrels for six months, followed by a short resting period in stainless tanks, then in bottled for three months before distribution. With a fruity nose, ruby red in color, this acidiic 85% Sangiovese and 15% mixed Tuscan grape wine tastes of cherries and the characteristic Tuscan plum flavor. I believe this wine, with it's history and combination of traditional and new world technology, is a must for any wine lover.

From the same estate comes 2006 BROCCOTO IGT, 85% Sangiovese; 12% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. This combination is stored in French barrique for 12 months, then is moved to VAT-tanks for eight months and then is transferred to the bottle for six months. BROCCOTO IGT is 13% alcohol and is deep ruby in color, with an interesting nose of vanilla and cherry. The wine is soft on the palate, full-bodied, with pronounced tannins.

2005 NOVECENTO RESERVA Chianti Classico DOCG is hand-harvested and a true Tuscan classic. The DIEVOLE estate produced this full-bodied, velvety, 90% Sangiovese and 10% Tuscan grape varietal wine on land that they have owned since 1090. This ruby wine is 13.5% alcohol and remains in French and American barrels for twelve months before it is transferred to bottles to rest for an additional twelve months. The end result is perfection and a wine that should be in everyone's wine cellar. Only 40,000 bottles are produced.

The 2007 La Vendemmia Chianti Classico is another wonderful example of wine produced on the DIEVOLE vineyard. Hand-harvested and stored in French and American oak for eight months, this 13% alcohol wine is composed of 90% Sangiovese grapes mixed with 10% Tuscan varietals.
This Chianti Classico is full-bodied with a fruit and mineral overtone that begs you to drink more and more.

I am in love with the DIEVOLE portfolio and hope that you will agree with me.
